White-sand beaches

Tāwharanui Peninsula on the Matakana Coast is the perfect combination of beautiful coastal landscapes and leisure activities, both on and off the water. Spend the day at Anchor Bay, the main swimming beach, or go exploring in Tāwharanui Regional Park. 

The stunning coastline of Pakiri makes for a truly idyllic escape. Go for a surf, a dip, a stroll, or even a horse ride along the soft white sands. Book a cabin or campsite at the holiday park and explore more of the Matakana Coast.   

Orewa Beach is a 3km stretch of golden sand just 20 minutes north of Auckland’s harbour bridge. Go kayaking, windsurfing or swimming, and take the kids on the cool playground. Grab an ice cream or settle in for lunch at one of the cafés across the road. 

Take a scenic drive to the Pohutukawa Coast for beautiful white-sand beaches, expansive regional parks and family-friendly activities. Check out Maraetai, with safe swimming and spectacular views, and nearby Beachlands or Omana.
