The clue is in the title and this classy, elegant restaurant on O’Connell Street is certainly all about good meat, fish and of course wine. We were invited to sample the menu by the restaurant and we couldn’t have been happier to oblige!. Head chef Mark Wilson and his team use the best seasonal ingredients on an ever changing menu which changes according to whatever is in season at that time. You certainly can’t get fresher than that.

Last week, I was invited to dine at Meat Fish Wine to try their five course degustation menu, matched with local and international wines. We had a fantastic night, thanks to the beautiful food, wine, ambience and service. Meat Fish Wine is located on the corner of O’Connell and Chancery Streets, making it a great central spot for dining. The menu changes seasonally, focusing on fresh New Zealand produce, in particular meat and fish, and it has one of the largest wine lists in New Zealand. With over 500 wines to choose from, hand-picked by a Sommelier, you are truly spoilt for choice.
Where O’Connell and Chancery street meet marks my absolute favourite restaurant in Auckland. Meat Fish Wine. Chancery Street Bistro has officially been placed on the back burner because this eatery impresses every single time. The sophistication of Meat Fish Wine is expressed through the dark woods and navy blues to the meticulously crafted dishes on all the menus. Seasonal and local ingredients are celebrated throughout the menu, including Ora King salmon and traditional Maori sourdough. The service is faultless. Staff attentively take your coat before you sit down, offer you sparkling or still, and run you through the menu seamlessly. To experience the best of Meat Fish Wine ask the waiter to organise what they call a "Wine Flight". This takes you through three different wines from all over the world. The waiters are incredibly knowledgeable about their wine selection and food menu which really adds to the whole experience. I frequently visit Meat Wine Fish and I'm slowly working through their menu. It's always hard to pass up their pork belly with roasted kumara and maple dressing. The interior, decor, location, service, menu, and ambience of Meat Wine Fish are absolutely exemplary. This restaurant is one you must experience for yourself.
